Carbondale is situated in the beautiful Endless Mountains of NortheastPennsylvania in Lackawanna County. In nearby Susquehanna County, rural areas with rolling mountains, lush woodlands, thousands of acres of gamelands, dairy and vegetable farms, and numerous natural resources contribute to the attractiveness of the area.

A strong sense of community, urban and rural lifestyles, and a diverse ethnic population enhance the quality of life in Carbondale which includes historical attractions, social and cultural events, performing arts, and outdoor recreation.

Lackawanna County attractions include: the Everhart Museum, Glenmaura National Golf Club, Lackawanna Stadium, home of the AAA Scranton Wilkes-Barre Red Barons, Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour, Steamtown National Historic Site, Montage Mountain Ski Resort & Outdoor Performing Center.

Just a few of Susquehanna Counties numerous attractions include: Elk Mountain Ski Resort, the O&W and D&H Rail-Trails, Salt Springs State Park, and Old Mill Village.

Years ago, coal-mining transformed Carbondale into an urban area. Today, a balanced blend of manufacturing and commerce, service industries, agriculture, recreation and tourism have replaced the coal-mining operations which were once the mainstay of Carbondale's economy.

State-of-the-art technology offered by area telecommunications companies, coupled with the high-quality lifestyle and comparatively low cost of living, attracts a professional and dedicated workforce.

The city is unique in its location as a hub of transportation. The recently completed Lackawanna Valley Industrial Highway provides direct access to several major interstates including 81, 84, 380, and 476. Carbondale is conveniently located less than three hours drive from New York City, Philadelphia and Harrisburg, yet the cost of living and doing business is less than in the nearby metropolitan areas.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, less than 20 minutes away via the Lackawanna Valley Industrial Highway, serves the area with regularly scheduled jet service and several commuter airlines.

The wealth of history, diverse community and pleasant hospitality make Carbondale an exceptional place for both your business and your home.
